Kinokuniya is known to be the largest Japanese franchise bookstore around the world. For the outlet in Dubai, Lightbox proposed ceiling panels that are inspired by Islamic architectural patterns featured in the main zones of the store. The patterns are hence simplified into a modern and minimalist shape to suite the concept of the brand. Linear light lines are used to highlight the outer form of the pattern and acts as a circulation guide in the space. While Overall illumination of the interior spaces are created by seamless downlights embedded into the black panels that imitates the look of a starry night sky.
